Orlando Pirates identify priority target with cash plus player offer
Orlando Pirates decided against strengthening their playing squad in January. However, they’ve laid out plans for the end of the campaign.
Pirates want Bafana star Kwayiba
According to SoccerLaduma, Orlando Pirates have made Sinoxolo Kwayiba their priority transfer target in June. The 25-year-old Chippa man was recently capped by Bafana and has an eye for goal, already scoring six times in the league this term. Interest in Kwayiba follows from the club getting cold feet on signing Siphelele Luthuli, who trained with the Buccaneers after leaving Chippa.
“Expect him (Kwayiba) to make the switch at the end of the season and it could be one of the big deals, which could involve a player swap and money. Pirates are very interested in him,” said the source.
Saleng leaves for CHAN qualifiers
According to SoccerLaduma, Monnapule Saleng is reporting for the Bafana camp as they prepare for CHAN qualifiers against Egypt. The two legs will be played on 28 February and 09 March.
Recognition from one’s country can never be a bad thing. However, inclusion in a fringe Bafana squad of mostly emerging youngsters isn’t what Saleng needs right now. A player of the 26-year-old’s calibre should be operating at the highest level for South Africa and playing regularly in the Betway Premiership. The CHAN Qualifiers Bafana squad selected by Helman Mkhalele isn’t exactly a collection of household names, barring one or two. Saleng might enjoy a distraction from his issues at Pirates but this doesn’t solve the problem, it just elongates it.

Would Kwayiba be a good addition?
