Orlando Pirates news: ONE striker IN; ONE striker OUT
Orlando Pirates are expected to offer Zakhele Lepasa a one-year contract extension.
This move will reportedly come at a cost to teammate Boitumelo Radiopane, who has featured six times this season.
The Buccaneers are exploring options to either release him or send the highly-rated 23-year-old on loan, which wouldn’t be the first time they’ve shipped off Radiopane.
The Sebokeng-born striker spent a year at Cape Town Spurs (2023/24), a season that ended in relegation.
Rumours confirmed
“The player who could be affected by Zakhele [Lepasa] staying at the club is another striker Boitumelo [Radiopane] and the club is looking at loaning him out again,
“It’s tough for Radiopane as he has given the chance to play and prove himself but it is believed that things haven’t worked according to plan as he has struggled to command a regular place compared to the other youngsters like Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota and that’s why they would like to either loan him or release him.”
Another source believes Orlando Pirates are looking to clear space for Richards Bay striker Yanele Mbhuthuma.
“Yes, the club is planning on bringing in another striker and they have already identified some strikers including [Yanele] Mbhuthuma from Richards Bay and that’s why they want to loan out Radiopane or release him,
“They want to have strikers who will compete among each other for next season and that’s the situation right now.”
Radiopane’s fate will presumably be decided in the coming weeks as Orlando Pirates have until June 30 to extend Lepasa’s contract. Only time will tell what unfolds.
What striker should Orlando Pirates be monitoring?
