Orlando Pirates are weighing up their options regarding the future of Boitumelo Radiopane.

The 23-year-old striker has only featured six times this season after returning from Cape Town Spurs on loan last year, a campaign that ended in PSL relegation.

According to reports, the Buccaneers are undecided on whether to loan or release Radiopane as they look set to offer Bafana forward Zakhele Lepasa a one-year contract extension.

Another reason for Radiopane’s seemingly inevitable departure is Orlando Pirates’ desire to sign another seasoned striker in the offseason, namely Richards Bay talisman Yanele Mbhuthuma.

This would force the Sea Robbers to exile one of their forwards, which seems to be targeted at Radiopane.

Lepasa extension to affect Radiopane

“The player who could be affected by Zakhele [Lepasa] staying at the club is another striker Boitumelo [Radiopane] and the club is looking at loaning him out again,” a source revealed.

“It’s tough for Radiopane as he has given the chance to play and prove himself but it is believed that things haven’t worked according to plan as he has struggled to command a regular place compared to the other youngsters like Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota and that’s why they would like to either loan him or release him.”

“Yes, the club is planning on bringing in another striker and they have already identified some strikers including [Yanele] Mbhuthuma from Richards Bay and that’s why they want to loan out Radiopane or release him,” another source explained.

“They want to have strikers who will compete among each other for next season and that’s the situation right now.”
