PICUM Job Opportunities: Traineeships and Volunteering to Support Undocumented Migrants’ Rights in 2025
,The Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) continues its vital work in advocating for the rights of undocumented people across Europe. While there are currently no full-time employment vacancies, PICUM is actively inviting passionate individuals to explore its upcoming traineeship and volunteering opportunities for 2025. Traineeship Opportunities at PICUM
PICUM is offering two dedicated six-month traineeship positions designed for individuals deeply committed to migration issues, human rights, and European advocacy. The traineeships run from September 1, 2025, to February 27, 2026, and aim to equip trainees with practical skills and insights into policy work, event organization, and advocacy communication.
1. Advocacy Traineeship
PICUM seeks two Advocacy Trainees to support its policy and advocacy initiatives. These roles are ideal for candidates interested in influencing EU policies, amplifying the voices of undocumented migrants, and engaging in research and publication activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and analyzing EU policy developments affecting undocumented migrants
- Assisting in drafting reports, briefings, and policy publications
- Supporting organization of advocacy events and campaigns
- Helping to elevate the voices of marginalized communities in public discourse

2. Events and Communications Traineeship
The organization is also recruiting one Events and Communications Trainee for the same period. This role focuses on the creative and logistical aspects of PICUM’s outreach, including supporting event planning, managing digital communications, and engaging with the public through various platforms.

When to Apply
PICUM typically opens traineeship positions twice a year:
- June intake for placements from September to February
- January intake for placements from March to August

Volunteers should have excellent English (C1 level or higher) and experience in translation or proofreading. Tasks may involve translating reports, analysis documents, subtitles, or event materials.
- News Monitoring: Volunteers can assist in gathering and analyzing media coverage related to undocumented migrants across different countries and regions.
- Visual Communication: Creative talents are highly valued. PICUM welcomes illustrators, graphic designers, animators, video editors, and photographers to contribute. Photographers are encouraged to share images depicting the realities faced by undocumented individuals, ensuring proper consent and rights clearance.
