Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have been kept apart in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals.

The draw for the 2025 CAF Champions League quarterfinal was conducted on TODAY, 20 February in Doha, Qatar.

As per CAF, the four teams that topped their respective groups were seeded while the other four runners-up were unseeded.

The seeded teams included Pirates (South Africa), AS FAR Rabat (Morocco), Al Hilal (Sudan), and Espérance (Tunisia).

The four unseeded teams were Sundowns (South Africa), MC Alger (Algeria), Al Ahly and Pyramids (both Egypt).

This meant Pirates could only draw Sundowns, MC Alger or Pyramids and not Al Ahly as they were in the same group.

For Sundowns, they could only be pitted against Al Hilal, Pirates or Al Ahly because they shared a group with AS FAR Rabat.

All eyes in South Africa were on whether or not Pirates and Sundowns would draw each other in the quarterfinals.

However, this was not the case as Pirates drew MC Alger and Sundowns drew Esperance in the next round of the competition.

The first legs will be played on 1-2 April while the return legs are scheduled for 8-9 April 2025.
