About the Role:

Our Construction Department is growing, and we have an exciting new opportunity for a Foreman in the areas of Roadworks, Earthworks, and Layerworks.

This is a site-based, national position, so the successful candidate will be working at various construction sites across the country. The Foreman will oversee and coordinate the activities related to road, earth, and layerwork projects, ensuring everything runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Main Responsibilities:

As a Foreman in Roadworks, Earthworks, and Layerworks, your role will involve a wide range of tasks to ensure the success of each project. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Supervising Site Operations: Oversee and coordinate daily activities on road, earth, and layerwork sites, ensuring all work aligns with project plans.
  • Managing Resources: Manage labor, materials, and equipment effectively to ensure maximum productivity and minimal delays.
  • Ensuring Safety: You’ll be in charge of enforcing health, safety, and environmental regulations to create a safe work environment for everyone.
  • Quality Control: Conduct site inspections regularly to make sure the work meets quality standards and project specifications.
  • Reading Drawings: Interpreting and reviewing construction drawings related to road, earth, and layerwork, providing guidance to teams, and solving any problems that arise.
  • Leading Safety Talks: Organizing and leading toolbox talks, site briefings, and safety meetings to keep the team informed and safe.
  • Progress Reporting: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of project progress, resources used, and any challenges faced.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all tools and equipment are used properly and maintained in good working condition.
  • Problem-Solving: Quickly identify any issues on site and find solutions to prevent delays and keep the project on track.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Make sure that all work is carried out in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Effective Leadership: Lead the team by providing clear guidance, maintaining morale, and ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who is confident, decisive, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. You must be results-driven and have the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.

Here’s a breakdown of the ideal candidate:

  • Minimum Education: Grade 12 (NQF 4) with supervision or civil construction training.
  • Experience: At least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in Road, Earth, and Layerworks within the civil construction industry.
  • Advantageous Qualifications: A diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction (NQF 5) would be a great advantage.
  • Extra Skills: Experience managing subcontractors and handling multiple phases of complex projects is also a plus.
