Mamelodi Sundowns are soaring in the PSL, sitting twelve points ahead of Orlando Pirates with a chance to make it fifteen when they face Sekhukhune United tonight.

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC, after weeks of mediocrity, is quietly climbing up the ladder.

The Maroons are strong contenders for another third-place finish, lying four points behind current holders Babina Noko, but with a game in hand.

Rumours around the PSL

  • Orlando Pirates have their sights set on a forward this offseason – Richards Bay striker Yanele Mbhuthuma is at the top of their list.
  • Kaizer Chiefs have joined the race for Hungry Lions striker Muzomuhle Khanyi, who also has the Buccaneers enquiring for his services.
  • Reigning PSL Player of the Year Patrick Maswanganyi is reportedly keen on returning to Europe; his former club, UD Oliveirense, could facilitate a move.
  • Free agent Edwin Gyimah is linked with Kazakhstan Premier League team FC Astana.

More on Maswanganyi

“It’s no longer just about an inquiry, it’s about negotiations now,” a Siya source confirmed.

“They really want him back in Portugal. They are looking at the progress he has made, and they are happy to bring him back to Portugal. It will all depend on what Pirates are looking at or if UD Oliveirense can afford what Pirates will be asking for Maswanganyi.

“The only issue that is there now is the R40 million that the club has put on Maswanganyi’s head. You know he is one of the best players now in the country and if the club wants that amount then UD Oliveirense should meet or make it even better than that. But since they are believed to have opened up negotiations then it will all depend on their offer that they table to Pirates.”
