The PSL’s January transfer window is abuzz with speculation.

Rumours of high-profile moves swirl, yet several marquee deals are yet to be finalised.

Rumours around the league.

  • Marcel Koller’s Al Ahly have entered the conversation for PSL starlet Relehobile Mofokeng amid Barcelona interest; however, if completed, a transfer will only occur after the PLS season concludes.
  • Kaizer Chiefs are increasing their initial R10 million bid for Stellenbosch star Fawaaz Basadien to R13 million in hopes of landing him in this summer window.
  • According to publishers Al-Arab, Al Ahly and Qatar SC have agreed on terms for Bafana playmaker Percy Tau with an announcement expected soon.
  • Orlando Pirates are upping their pursuit of Golden Arrows striker Lungelo Nguse to boost their PSL prospect.

Shabalala signs contract extension

“The club (Chiefs) is making sure they keep almost all their valued youngsters because in the past they have lost some of them to rivals and that’s why they have offered Mdu (Shabalala) another three-year contract,” a source confirmed.

“You remember he signed a three-year contract in June 2022 until June 2025? And the one the club has tabled now will take his stay at Naturena until at least June 2028. That’s what the club is looking at,” the concluded.

A second source doubled down on the rumours, saying, “at the moment we can’t say it’s a done deal already. But he is a Kaizer Chiefs youth product and he loves to be at the club and that works well in the negotiations as both the club and player need each other. So it looks positive that before the end of the current season, Mdu (Shabalala) would have put pen to paper on a new three-year contract.”
