Mamelodi Sundowns are edging towards being runaway favourites for the PSL title.

Orlando Pirates had their match against Golden Arrows abandoned on Wednesday, while the Brazilians made easy work of Gallants, putting them twelve points ahead of the Buccaneers, who have three games in hand.

Rumours around the league

  • Kaizer Chiefs have yet to show interest in Asenele Velebayi after months of trying last offseason. Cape Town Spurs have placed a R10 million price tag on the 22-year-old.
  • Orlando Pirates have former PSL Young Player of the Year Jaedin Rhodes on the top of their offseason transfer list.
  • The Buccaneers rejected Zamalek’s R25.8 million bid for Relehobile Mofokeng. More offers from elsewhere are likely to ensue.
  • Themba Zwane’s fifteen-year career at Mamelodi Sundowns seems to be coming to an end as the club remains reluctant to renew his contract, which expires on June 30. Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring the situation.

Last season for Mofokeng?

Bafana coach Hugo Broos believes Relebohile Mofokeng will flock the PSL before the start of next season, telling iDiski Times, “Talking about Mofokeng, I just hope that he makes the right decisions. And that he is not going to a team where he won’t play,

“I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… (sighs) I’m a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution,

“Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that’s for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that’s the problem. But ok, let’s hope, maybe I talked too soon about that,

“We’ll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.”
