Rulani Mokwena offers Orlando Pirates youngster Club World Cup!
Having left South African football for Wydad Casablanca, Rulani Mokwena has not stopped looking at talented players from his homeland.
Mokwena was able to reunited with his former player at Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in Thembinkosi Lorch in January.
Wydad interested in Mofokeng
It was also reported that Mokwena was looking sign Pirates superstar Relebohile Mofokeng. This publication reported that Wydad had put in a huge offer to the Buccaneers to try and entice the player. The report cited claimed that the Soweto giants were actually thinking about the deal, due to the amount. We did state, however, that it would be an unlikely scenario to see the 20-year-old leave in January.
It was also hard to fathom Pirates selling one of their most prized assets to another African side in Wydad. But now according to North African reports cited by KickOff.com the Red Castle will be back under Mokwena’s instructions. They will also use FIFA Club World Cup participation to lure Mofokeng up north.
Mokwena using Club World Cup to entice him from Pirates
“According to a report by French publication Africafoot – which has a network in Moroccan football – Wydad have shown serious interest in signing Pirates star winger Relebohile Mofokeng. The outlet have suggested The Red Castle have dangled a carrot of participating in the Club World Cup to the 20-year-old to lure him from Soweto. L’équipe went on to report that Wydad have opened talks with Bucs, with the aim of discussing his potential transfer. Mokwena could be seen as an integral part of opening talks with Pirates for Wydad, given his access to the hierarchy at the club.”
