Kaizer Chiefs could pull off a massive transfer coup at the end of the campaign but it’s conditional on a few factors.

Kaizer Chiefs to sign top target for free?

According to SoccerLaduma, Chiefs have received encouragement in their chase of Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum. The 27-year-old is unlikely to stay at his current club Azam beyond the end of this season. An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, Salum knows Nasreddine Nabi and Cedric Kaze well after working together at Yanga SC. The schemer has 41 caps for his country.

“If nothing happens regarding his contract between now and June then Chiefs could sign him as a free agent. He is believed to have rejected the offer to extend his contract at Azam and we know he is interested in joining coach Nabi. So, if Chiefs still want him they could sign him for free this time around,” the insider told Soccer Laduma.

“There is still a possibility of Feisal (Salum) for next season but it will depend on the other players that the club is looking at in those positions. You know, there is still a lot of time between now and the end of the season and a lot can still happen. But yes, if he doesn’t renew his contract and the team wants to sign him then he will obviously join as a free agent,” the second source revealed.

How has Salum been playing lately?

The attacking midfielder’s side are third in the Tanzanian Premier League. Ironically, they’re 11 points adrift of leaders Young Africans, a team where Salum enjoyed wild success. Salum hasn’t scored since their 3-1 win over Dodoma Jiji in December. By his standards, that’s quite a dry spell. Salum bagged 19 goals across all competitions last season, one of the major factors that made Kaizer Chiefs take notice.

Would Salum be a smart addition?
