What Does a General Clerk Do?
As a General Clerk at Russells, your main job is to support store operations, ensure customer satisfaction, and help drive sales. You’ll also be responsible for handling stock, cash, and compliance duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Stock Control – Keep track of stock levels and maintain company assets
Cash & Credit Handling – Process transactions following company policies
Sales Activities – Assist customers and drive in-store sales
Customer Service – Help customers in a friendly and professional manner
Teamwork & Self-Management – Work well with others and manage your time efficiently
Branch Manager Support – Act as a relief manager when the Branch Manager is on leave
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in multiple aspects of store management!
Who Should Apply?
To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:
Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
1-2 years of retail experience
Strong store administration skills
Knowledge of merchandising standards
Experience with customer complaints management
Professional telephone etiquette
Basic selling skills
Understanding of risk management and business acumen
MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Knowledge of relevant retail legislation (NCA, CPA, OHASA)
Good verbal and written communication skills
