Serero snubs Kaizer Chiefs for Ertugral?
Cape Town City could beat Kaizer Chiefs for the signing of former Bafana Bafana star Thulani Serero.
The 34-year-old playmaker is reportedly in advanced negotiations with City after leaving the Middle East. Serero spent six years in the Middle East following a seven-year stay in the Netherlands.
Cream has he is known by fans, left Ajax Cape Town in 2011 after being voted Player of the Season in the PSL. He has a successful spell with Ajax Amsterdam however he fell down the pecking order and eventually left the club.
Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral has confirmed this week thar Serero would join the Cape-side.
“He went back to Emirates, quickly to sort out some issues. But yeah, he is a solution for us, definitely, but not against Orlando Pirates,” Ertugral told reporters.
Serero will not join Kaizer Chiefs but CPT City
“He needs to get his family sorted out, bring them back, and then probably, he is going back to Emirates and come back on the weekend, and then obviously the next game against AmaZulu, probably he will be ready.”
Serero was linked with Kaizer Chiefs in the past but it seems unlikely the the Naturena absed side are still keen on the ex-Ajax star. Amakhosi signed Bafana Bafana midfielder Thabo Cele and with Gaston Sirino showing good form, it will make less sense for Chiefs to sign Cream.
Serero played under Muhsin Erugral during his time at Ajax around 2009. The 34-year-old midfielder has not played in the PSL for nearly 14 years.
Is Serero still useful to any PSL club?
