American gymnastics GOAT Simone Biles and her NFL husband Jonathan Owens are currently enjoying a whirlwind belated honeymoon in South Africa.

The pair kicked off their visit with a safari adventure and have also spent time in Franschhoek and fished in the waters off Cape Town.

The love-struck couple also found time to enjoy a glass of wine at cafe Roux in the Noordhoek Farm Village.

Biles, 27, and Owens, 29, tied the knot back in 2023, three years after meeting on a dating app, but were tied up over the last nearly two years with their careers.

Biles competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning four medals, while Owens signed with a new team, the Chicago Bears, last year. 

‘Postcard from South Africa’

Simone Biles shared a photo in front of an elephant, feeding it, with the caption: “Consider this my postcard from South Africa.”

The post received an outpouring of love from her 12.5 million Instagram followers, with many South African fans welcoming her to the country.

“Welcome to South Africa,” one user commented, while another said, “I hope you’re enjoying your stay here in South Africa.”

Aside from the elephant encounter, the pair also had a male lion coming alarmingly close to their safari vehicle on a night drive, when the big cats are most active, with Simone Biles captioning it, ‘Not gonna lie, I almost s**t myself’.

The most decorated gymnast of all time also shared photos of a leopard lazing in a tree, as well as taking delight in zebras (whom she captioned ‘Marty’ from the film Madagascar) and a warthog (which she captioned ‘Pumba’ from the Lion King).

For his part, Chicago Bears safety Owens posted a number of clips of the safari experience, showing a wholesome childlike wonder at what he was seeing.

Of the lion encounter, he wrote, “I had to stop recording, my heart was beating so fast!”
