Somizi slams Sweet Guluva fans for being annoying

The current season, dubbed Umlilo, began on 21 January 2025, with 20 contestants competing for the grand prize.

Now, only five housemates remain:

Akhonamathemba “Sweet Guluva” Mbele (23), Uyanda Hlangabezo (24), Nsuku Mabunda (29), Fortunate “Nate” Setwaba (26), and Karabo “Jojo” Sejojo (22).

Of the finalists, Sweet Guluva has emerged as a fan favourite.

He has gained backing from prominent figures such as Ukhozi FM legend Dudu “Lady D” Khoza, DJ Zinhle, and former Ukhozi FM presenter Ngizwe Mchunu.

His name has taken social media by storm, with fans urging the public to vote for him.

Yet, his rising popularity has sparked controversy.

Media personality Somizi Mhlongo and outspoken content creator Matthew Lani have voiced concerns, suggesting some of Sweet Guluva’s overly enthusiastic fans might jeopardise his chances of winning.

Somizi expressed his frustration on social media.

Wake up and vote. Somizi is saying Sweet Guluva might not win because of campaigning too much, it’s hurting me. We need to be serious and vote.

Stop talking too much and do the voting nkosiyami I really want Sweet Guluva to win, he is a good guy.

“Sweet Guluva people, some of us don’t even watch Big Brother. We know him because you annoy us in the comments.”

“You’re ruining his chances of winning because you’re too much. We’ve had enough. Stop it!”

Matthew Lani also weighed in via TikTok.

“There you go, I voted for your Sweet Guluva. I don’t even know what I’m voting for because I don’t have DStv. Can Sunday come already so this person can get his R2 million and finish it? We’ll probably see him in I Blew It next.”

As the finale fast approaches, the question remains: Will Sweet Guluva’s overwhelming support ultimately secure him victory, or will the backlash hinder his chances?
