Purpose of Role:

SPARK Schools teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth for all scholars. SPARK Schools Senior Phase Blended Learning Facilitators are computer literate and savvy and are studying towards a career in Education. SPARK high school Blended Learning facilitators equip scholars with the knowledge and tools required for matriculation and work collaboratively in leading an integrated inquiry-based curriculum.

Senior Phase Blended learning Facilitators are integral to the SPARK Schools’ culture and our commitment to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Plan for, teach and co-teach face to face and distance lessons (both in the classroom and on the field) for and deliver academic and clubs lessons.
  • Actively assist students on all computer programs and ensure that the educational software used in the lab effectively meets the needs of students.
  • Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school administrators to create personalised learning plans for students.
  • Report all damages to hardware to the School Operations Manager and fill out relevant incident reports if needed.
  • Participate actively in all scheduled professional development sessions.
  • Develop and administer formative and termly assessments to track student progress and analyse the data for student growth for all scholars to meet the required proficiency ratings in the online space.
  • Submit and analyse scholar data in order to track progress and intervene when necessary.
  • Lead scholar social and emotional development through CQ (Character Quotient) sessions and reflections.
  • Plan for, deliver and monitor programmes to support low performing scholars, or extend high performing scholars.
  • Participate in place-based education where required within mandated national curriculum or as part of SPARK Schools curriculum enrichment.
  • Participate in career and tertiary pathways education where required as part of scholar culture and character development.
  • Develop SPARK culture and implement behaviour management strategies.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all SPARK Schools events and to all stakeholders.
  • Nurture a high ­achieving work environment where all scholars feel genuinely valued and supported.
  • Promote the vision and mission of SPARK Schools to staff, scholars, families, and the greater community.
  • Implement strategies implemented by the Crisis Management team. Adhere to the child protection, anti-bullying and health and safety policy.

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • 3rd/4th year BEd student in the Senior/FET phase Majoring in Mathematics.
  • SACE provisional registration
  • Clear/Clean criminal record – valid police clearance
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology

SPARK Schools supervisors drive student achievement by overseeing the culture and effectiveness of lunch, break, and aftercare. SPARK Schools supervisors care for classes of students during lunch, break, and dismissals to ensure student achievement, health, and safety.

1. Leadership and Management:

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a school culture that values high achievement, strong character, and a love for learning.

  • Use quantitative (assessment) and qualitative (anecdotal) data to drive decision-­making and instruction at the school.

  • Manage behaviour policy, student behaviour, and oversee the implementation of individualised plans for students who repeatedly do not meet SPARK Schools’ behavioural expectations.

  • Facilitate the professional development of SPARK staff by maintaining a consistent weekly observation and coaching cycle and collaborating with SPARK Support staff to provide relevant weekly professional development sessions. 
  • Conduct termly evaluations of SPARK staff to nurture their professional growth and leadership capacities.  
  • Facilitate a high-­achieving work environment where staff feel genuinely valued and supported. 
  • Build relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including parents, families, the greater community, and the Department of Basic Education, and leverage these relationships to increase student achievement. 
  • Lead termly and monthly school­-wide community events, leveraging the capacity of the school leadership team, teachers, and active parents for support. 
  • Lead the process for achieving accreditation with Umalusi for the delivery of National Senior Certificate examinations.
  • Lead the process for administering National Senior Certificate examinations and relevant district and provincial standardised examinations, including examination routines & procedures as outlined in the implementation guides and by DBE regulations. 
  • Manage the Instructional Assistant Principal(s) and the School Operations Officer and facilitate their leadership development in the context of SPARK’s network­-wide leadership development program.
  • Ensure study hall attendance and late pick up is tracked accurately and submitted to billing on time. 
  • Implement a rigorous study hall product with measurable academic outcomes using data-driven strategies.
  • Organise and manage the high school clubs as per the implementation guide.
  • Lead the site-specific crisis management team through the understanding and implementation of the SPARK Schools crisis management strategy.
  • Participate in the selection of new school based personnel. 
  • Responsible for the onboarding of all new staff members. 
  • Define, implement, and share school­ wide policies, systems, and procedures with parents, students, staff, and community (for example, arrivals, dismissals, cover timetables, study hall timetables, and examination administration) to facilitate student achievement and align with SPARK Schools network -wide best practice. 
  • Participate actively in staff development opportunities as a member of the SPARK Schools team.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all SPARK Schools events and to all stakeholders.
  • Manage the school’s financial budgets.

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

Experience:

  • At least 3-4 years of excellent classroom instruction, including Grd 12 teaching experience
  • At least two years in High School leadership
  • Experience and practice with labour laws
  • Experience and practice with Umalusi accreditation and National Senior Certificate examination administration

Preferred qualifications and criteria:

Purpose of Role:

SPARK Schools teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth for all scholars. SPARK Schools FET Phase Computer Application Studies Educators are content specialists in the Computer Application Studies. SPARK high school FET Phase educators equip scholars with the knowledge and tools required for matriculation and work collaboratively in leading an integrated inquiry-based curriculum.  

FET Phase Computer Application Studies Educators are integral to the SPARK Schools’ culture and our commitment to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

Reports To: Assistant Principal or Principal

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Plan for, teach and co-teach face to face and distance lessons for and deliver academic and clubs lessons.
  • Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to develop rigorous, engaging learning experiences and to create and implement high quality individualised behaviour and learning plans for scholars.
  • Participate actively in all scheduled professional development sessions.
  • Develop and administer formative and termly assessments to track student progress and analyse the data for student growth for all scholars to meet the required proficiency ratings.
  • Submit and analyse scholar data in order to track progress and intervene when necessary.
  • Lead scholar social and emotional development through CQ (Character Quotient) sessions and reflections.
  • Plan for, deliver and monitor programmes to support low performing scholars, or extend high performing scholars.
  • Participate in place-based education where required within mandated national curriculum or as part of SPARK Schools curriculum enrichment.
  • Participate in career and tertiary pathways education where required as part of scholar culture and character development.
  • Develop SPARK culture and implement behaviour management strategies.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all SPARK Schools events and to all stakeholders.
  • Nurture a high ­achieving work environment where all scholars feel genuinely valued and supported.
  • Promote the vision and mission of SPARK Schools to staff, scholars, families, and the greater community.
  • Implement strategies implemented by the Crisis Management team. Adhere to the child protection, anti-bullying and health and safety policy.
  • Attend Saturday events and parent community meetings.
  • Submit student results data when required.

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • English language fluency 
  • Completed a B.Ed or PGCE degree in Computer Application Studies SP & FET phase
  • 2-3 Years of experience in a High School Context
  • SACE registration
  • Clear/Clean criminal record
