Corporate and Financial Institutions Coverage Intern 2025
This internship is specifically targeted at enthusiastic individuals who are eager to delve into the world of Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB). Our Corporate and Financial Institutions Coverage team plays a crucial role in managing and developing relationships with various clients, ranging from local corporates to major global firms. As an intern, you will have the chance to work with an array of teams within the CIB business function, gaining firsthand experience with diverse stakeholders and robust financial products.
Role Purpose and Context
The primary objective of the Corporate and Financial Institutions Coverage Intern is to support the strategic objectives of Standard Chartered’s Corporate and Investment Banking unit. Your role could focus on either assisting Credit Analysts or directly supporting Relationship Managers. As a vital part of our organization, you’ll engage with tasks necessary for the sales process, risk assessment, and relationship management while being immersed in a collaborative, innovative atmosphere where your skills can flourish.
Key Responsibilities
Assistant Relationship Manager Tasks:
- Collaborate with Senior Relationship Managers to execute deals and navigate the complexities of client relationships.
- Coordinate communications and operations between clients and product partners, ensuring seamless service delivery.
- Identify new business opportunities and support account planning in line with our strategic goals.
Credit Analyst Activities:
- Assist in risk management by conducting thorough financial, credit, and industry risk analyses.
- Learn about structuring deals and managing client relationships to support sound financial decision-making.
- Engage with diverse risk factors, including environmental and reputational considerations.
About the Internship Programme
The Standard Chartered Internship Programme is a 10-week initiative designed to provide you with a comprehensive look into the financial services industry. Participants will work on real-world challenges, develop essential skills, and establish valuable connections. Throughout the program, you will also benefit from:

Eligibility Requirements
We welcome applications from students across all degree disciplines, valuing diverse perspectives. Key eligibility criteria include:
- You must be a penultimate-year student, capable of participating in the internship in June 2025 and available for full-time employment starting July 2026.
- Hold the legal right to work in South Africa; applicants requiring visa sponsorship for graduate roles in the UK and UAE may be considered according to specific conditions.
- Strong academic records and involvement in extracurricular activities are highly desirable.
