‘Still have a lot of work to do’
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi quickly managed fan expectations after defeating Stellenbosch 2-1.
It’s been a tumultuous time for Kaizer Chiefs, who, after weeks of battling in the middle order, seem to be breaking away into the top four race – however, Nabi believes there’s a lot to fix before they’re challenging for trophies.
“My mission here [at Chiefs] is to build a good team and in this process, we can lose, we can win like today but we have to be realistic and [not] get over-excited because we won. We still have a lot of work to do,
“We believe that our supporters have the right to be frustrated when the results are not there but we have to understand that sometimes it’s other people who push the agenda as they don’t want the club to succeed,” said Nabi.
Orlando Pirates coach shocked after Cape Town loss
Kaizer Chiefs night was made brighter after hearing of Orlando Pirates loss to Cape Town City.
“It’s actually quite difficult to explain the final result, I think the difference between both teams was too big this time,” said Buccaneers manager Jose Riveiro.
“With all respect for the game of Cape Town City, it’s difficult to explain that we lost this game the way we did it. But this is football, they managed to put one ball in the net, we didn’t but a very complete performance, we did everything to win the match, not much that you can do. So, to the next one.
“It’s just pure bad luck in this case, did you see the way they scored? It’s something not normal,” Riveiro responded when asked about the missed penalty and City’s goal.
“Again, like I said, we were Pirates tonight, we played the football that we played before. There were other games that we didn’t play at the level we played tonight where we got the result, but today we didn’t make it.
“Now we have to put our name onto the next one, this one is gone.”
