Kaizer Chiefs will be keeping tabs on Mamelodi Sundowns, who have several well-versed stars on the brink of free agency.

The contracts of Themba Zwane, Peter Shalulile and Khuliso Mudau, each steeped in PSL experience, are set to expire in June, prompting the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, who are known to swoop in for out-of-contract Brazilians, to monitor the Pretoria outfit’s ongoings.

And with the Tshwane-giants boss, Miguel Cardoso, preparing to cut their roster of forty to around twenty-five, there’s every reason to believe neither of the three will be a Ka Bo Yellow player next season.

Sundowns boss wants to cut back

According to reports, Cardoso is overwhelmed by the number of first-team players at his disposal.

“The coach has expressed his desire to cut down the squad to 25 players or at most 30 if the club wants a big squad,” a Siya source confirmed.

“He feels that 40 players is just too much to control and satisfy all the player despite the many games they are playing. He believes that 25 infield players with at least three or four goalkeepers is the best squad where rotation won’t be a big problem,” the added.

“Apparently he believes that’s like having three strong teams instead of the 40 they have now which is like having four teams. So, by the look of things, the Sporting Director and management are agreeing on that,

“So, Sundowns will be looking at having a good, sizeable squad.”

Kaizer Chiefs will be licking their lips at the thought of free Sundowns players.
