Job Description

Background:
UN Women operates on the foundational belief of promoting gender equality, as established in the Charter of the United Nations. The organization is dedicated to eradicating discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and advancing gender equality among women and men. This is achieved through support for development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security.

Based in the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) located in Bangkok, alongside several country and multi-country offices throughout the region, UN Women focuses on a robust history of partnerships with governments, civil society, and other entities. The aim is to advocate for gender equality and empower women and girls across diverse communities. Our commitment is centered around enhancing women’s equal participation in all dimensions of life, specifically focusing on five key areas:

  1. Gender Perspectives: Integrating gender considerations in intergovernmental processes.
  2. Political Participation and Leadership: Encouraging women’s active involvement in leadership roles.
  3. Economic Empowerment: Fostering women’s economic autonomy and opportunity.
  4. Ending Violence: Addressing and eliminating violence against women and girls.
  5. Participation in Peace and Security: Promoting women’s roles in peace-building and humanitarian efforts.

The selected consultant will report directly to the Human Resources Business Partner of the Regional Office and will be supported by the HR Specialist and HR Analyst, who will manage contract and payment inquiries.

Description of Responsibilities / Scope of Work

The consultant will provide longlisting services for assigned positions within UN Women. This includes compiling and submitting reports of longlisted candidates for each designated post within a maximum of 7 days following the closing date of the job advertisement. The consultancy services will be offered on an “on-call” basis, which means UN Women does not guarantee that the maximum contract amount will be utilized during the entire term of the Agreement.

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel
This role is a home-based consultancy, which allows for flexible work arrangements without the requirement for travel.

Functional Competencies:

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Experience in assessing applications against established job requirements.

Required Qualifications

Education and Certification:

  • A Master’s Degree in Arts, Gender Studies, International Human Rights, Human Resources, or related fields is required.
  • Candidates with a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience will also be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in national or international recruitment processes, specifically in longlisting and/or shortlisting candidates.
  • Prior experience working with the United Nations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with HR Software (e.g., ERP, Quantum) is considered an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of French, Spanish, or any other UN official language is an asset.
