Key Responsibilities of the Internship

The intern will assist with several core responsibilities, including:

Support for Project Management Initiatives

  • Global Project Appraisal Committee (GPAC): The intern will actively participate in the review process for projects developed within UN Women, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and compliance with existing policies.
  • Documentation Review: Assisting in the evaluation of project documentation, the intern will ensure completeness and accuracy while identifying gaps or discrepancies that could impact project success.
  • Platform Development: The intern will support the modernization of the project review and appraisal process through contributions to the development of a new platform, enhancing efficiency and accountability in project management.
  • Data Visualization: In collaboration with team members, the intern will prepare reports highlighting trends and patterns observed during the appraisal process, using data visualization techniques to present findings comprehensively.

Continuous Improvement Contributions

  • Process Enhancement Discussions: The intern will participate in brainstorming discussions to identify innovative tools and methods for improving the project review process.
  • Knowledge Product Development: Engaging in the creation of knowledge assets, the intern will contribute to ongoing learning initiatives and resources for the Project and Programme Management Community of Practice.

Qualifications and Skills

UN Women is seeking candidates who possess a blend of academic background and interpersonal skills suitable for this internship. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

Education

  • The intern must be pursuing or have completed university studies in disciplines such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, Social Sciences, Law, Communications, or Economics.
  • Applicants must fulfill one of the following:
  1. Be enrolled in a graduate program (second degree or equivalent).
  2. Be in the final year of an undergraduate program (minimum Bachelor’s level).
  3. Have graduated within the last two years and commence the internship promptly.
  4. Be part of a postgraduate professional traineeship program requiring the internship.

Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills, is essential.
  • Knowledge of additional UN languages is an advantage.
