Overview of the Position:
UN Women is seeking a Partnerships and Coordination Specialist Consultant to navigate and enhance its ongoing initiatives in the Republic of Korea. This pivotal role is essential to fostering collaboration and achieving the organization’s strategic goals in gender equality, women’s empowerment, and support for the rights of women and girls. As a consultant, you will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) and the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), to advance these objectives through effective coordination and strategic planning.
Background:
UN Women is committed to the eradication of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the promotion of gender equality as enshrined in the UN Charter. Operating through its Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, UN Women implements programs addressing critical issues such as violence against women, economic empowerment, governance, peace and security, among others.
Based on a multi-year agreement with the Government of the Republic of Korea, the UN Women presence in Seoul was launched in 2022 to amplify commitments toward gender equality. This role aims to facilitate various initiatives such as gender capacity-building, research, and partnership cultivation, building on substantial groundwork established in previous years.
Scope of Work and Responsibilities:
As the Partnerships and Coordination Specialist Consultant, you will be responsible for:
- Project Document Coordination:
- Leading the coordination process for the Project Document by facilitating diverse inputs, managing consultations, and negotiating approvals.
- Proposal Development:
- Coordinating proposals for MOGEF funding opportunities and meticulously documenting communications, visibility strategies, and reporting requirements.
- Meeting Summaries and Documentation:
- Drafting concise and clear summaries of key meetings, discussions, and convenings to capture critical insights and outcomes.
- Technical Advisory:
- Offering technical advice and expertise on the Project Document development cycle, serving as the regional focal point for MOGEF as needed.
- Knowledge Product Preparation:
- Supporting the Centre in creating various policy-oriented knowledge products based on discussion points and background documents from the Centre’s activities, including Korean summaries for MOGEF.
Work Environment:
This is a home-based consultancy position. The consultant is expected to be available during Seoul working hours for online meetings and collaboration.

- Familiarity with UN Women processes, particularly concerning Project Documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of effective verbal and written communication with diverse personnel.
- The ability to thrive in high-pressure working conditions while maintaining focus on objectives.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- A Master’s degree or its equivalent in business management, social sciences, public administration, international relations, communications, or a related discipline is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be considered.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project development and management, donor relations, proposal development, or resource mobilization.
- Proven experience in managing diverse stakeholders, particularly with donors.
- Previous experience writing Project Documents for UN Women is an asset.
- Familiarity with negotiation processes within international organizations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
- Experience working in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment is beneficial.
- Prior experience with UN Women or other United Nations entities is a significant advantage.
- Experience working in or collaborating with developing countries is a plus.
Languages:
- Fluency in both English and Korean is required.
