About the Project

The “Casting a Wider Net: Systems Approach Against Child Abuse and Exploitation in the Philippines Project” is a three-year initiative aimed at strengthening the protection, recovery, and reintegration efforts of duty-bearers in addressing child abuse and exploitation. This includes a focused approach toward combating human trafficking and early and forced marriages and unions (CEFMU). The project aligns with national and international commitments to protect children’s rights and improve systems that support vulnerable children and families.

About the Role

As a Social Worker working in Tacloban City, with responsibilities that extend to Catbalogan City, Zumarraga, and Daram, you will play a crucial role in addressing the complex challenges posed by child abuse and exploitation in these communities. Your core responsibilities will involve quality case management for issues such as Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), trafficking in persons, and CEFMU. Collaborating effectively with Local Government Units (LGUs) is essential to ensure the timely and supportive protection of affected children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Identification and Referral:
  • Identify potential cases of abuse related to trafficking in persons, OSAEC, and CEFMU within the assigned project area.
  • Refer identified cases to partner LGUs for appropriate responses and interventions.
  • Rescue and Shelter Support:
  • Assist with the rescue of survivors in coordination with referring agencies and facilitate their secure placement in shelters, ensuring their immediate safety and support.
  • Psychosocial Support:
  • Provide essential psychosocial and therapeutic support to survivors, as well as family members where applicable, helping them cope with and overcome the trauma they have experienced.
  • Reintegration Support:
  • Prepare families for the reintegration of survivors by offering basic counseling and support, focusing on issues of protection, trust, and stigma to facilitate a safe return home.
  • Training and Documentation:
  • Facilitate and document training sessions and orientations related to the project and its objectives, ensuring that best practices and lessons learned are communicated across relevant stakeholders.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Support emergency response activities in assigned communities, providing assistance as required to further ensure the safety and well-being of children and families at risk.
  • Collaboration and Reporting:
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, providing technical assistance on effective case management, monitoring target delivery, and offering necessary support to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Must be a registered and licensed Social Worker with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
  • Experience:
  • A minimum of two to four years of experience working as a social worker, with a specific focus on case management of children and direct experience working with communities and families.
  • At least one year of experience collaborating with Local Government Units (LGUs) and National Government Agencies (NGAs) related to child welfare and protection.
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding principles, as well as issues related to gender equality, inclusion, and gender-based violence.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders including government entities, NGOs, and community organizations.
  • Proficient critical thinking and analytical skills to address complex cases and challenges effectively.
  • Willingness and ability to conduct fieldwork in project areas when needed.
  • Nationality:
  • Must be a Filipino national based in the Philippines.

  • Case Management: Proficient in handling complex casework and developing strategies for solving problems related to child protection.
  • Psychosocial Support: Ability to provide emotional and psychological guidance to individuals affected by trauma.
  • Child Protection: Strong commitment to safeguarding practices and awareness of policies related to the protection of children.
  • Community Engagement: Capable of building relationships within communities to foster collaboration and participation in child protection initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Experience facilitating cooperation between multiple stakeholders to maximize project impact.
  • Fieldwork Capacity: Comfortable working in challenging environments and adapting to changing circumstances.
