Role purpose/Business Unit:

The Digital and Marketing team is responsible for designing the user experience (in the form of user interfaces) across all of Vodacom Financial Services Digital Channels. 
The purpose of the role is to ensure that through user research, information architecture, UX and UI design, Vodacom delivers relevant products with an exceptional user experience across all digital channels. This role requires solid experience with following user experience design methodologies; crafting beautiful visual user interfaces; working in an agile, collaborative team; and working directly with developers for implementation of designs.
The role is core to delivering exceptional customer experience across our digital ecommerce channels and will have a direct influence on the digital revenue KPI.

Your responsibilities will include:

User Experience Strategy and execution

  • Execute on overall User Experience strategy and obtain organisational buy-in
  • Drive delivery of projects to achieve User Experience business objectives.

UX and UI design

  • Follow the user centered design approach in designing journeys across all digital channels
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off with a mobile-first focus
  • Establish and promote visual design guidelines, best practices and standards within a broader cross functional team
  • Collaborate with team and work directly with developers to implement final design

User testing and research

  • Conduct user testing on new and existing journeys
  • Understand our customers’ needs through interviews and other research techniques. Use these insights to validate product concepts and inform design decisions

Channel strategy

  • Design the future state of all digital channels with an omni-channel approach
  • Conduct competitor reviews and research to inform strategy

Performance Tracking & Improvement

  • Continuous monitoring of performance across the website
  • Use these insights to inform design improvements

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  • Matric is essential 
  • 3 year Degree/Diploma in one or more of these disciplines :
  • Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Information Systems / Informatics, Human Computer Interaction or other related fields
  • Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or similar certification would be desirable, but not required.
  • Masters in Psychology, Social Sciences advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience essential in the following:
  • User-centred design, interaction design, information architecture, or similar.
  • Incorporate market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings into designs.
  • User Research Techniques and disciplines such as usability testing and contextual inquiries.
  • User interface and visual design. Wireframes and Prototyping of user interfaces (using tools such as Sketch [preferred], Axure, Adobe Creative Suite, Zeplin…)
  • Knowledge of technologies such as HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and mobile app operating systems would be advantageous.

Role Purpose/Business Unit:

  • Vodacom has embarked on a group-wide initiative to accelerate infrastructure deployment across all African markets to improve population coverage, increase site fiberisation, accelerate national backhaul fibre and to roll out fibre to the home and business (“FTTH/B”) aggressively. 
  • The main business objective is to connect the unconnected population driving digital inclusion, financial inclusion and in the process stimulating economic growth across the markets. Due to the very expensive nature of deploying such infrastructure Vodacom is proactively looking to partner with other operators and infrastructure providers within its markets to either share or co-build  infrastructure by setting up dedicated special purpose vehicles (“SPVs”) or Infrastructure Companies (‘InfraCos”) to help drive efficiency and accelerate deployment of such infrastructure.
  • The candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, driving, project management and executing all commercial and Operational aspects of the InfraCo’s and will take full accountability for “end-to-end” operations and support business plan development, commercial pricing, demand forecasts and negotiation with partners, providing inputs into legal agreements and project execution in accordance with industry best practises. In addition, the candidate will support with the technology planning, support with business case development and support the operational teams
  • This role reports to the ME: Group New Business Development and will serve as a key interface between Vodacom Group Business Development, other Group business units and Vodacom Markets. The key stakeholders include the Vodacom Group Chief M&A and BD, International CEO, Market Managing Directors

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Commercial Strategy

  • Coordinate with Group commercial and new business development the development of End-to-end commercial strategy for all new infraco products
  • Lead the development of  detailed rate cards and product description along with SLA’s for all new fibre co products
  • Detailed benchmarks to validate pricing structures and to ensure best practice 
  • Deliver all the commercial and sales aspects required to populate the business plan for each infraco

2. Operational support

  • Support the organisational design team to develop an optimal organisational design to maximise efficiencies and to maximise commercialisation of new infrastructure assets
  • Lead the process of demand management and Technology planning to ensure that the infrastructure deployment is done in the optimal location, specification and customised for customer demand 
  • Lead with the launch of new infraco’s and the eventual handover to the EXCO to be appointed
  • Review and sign-off on all commercial legal agreements on behalf of the infraco’s
  • Lead commercial due diligence for all projects

3. Innovation and Optimisation

  • Collaborate and review with Technology the networks designs with regards to specifications, costs, use cases against a baseline design in order to find innovative solutions to rural deployments
  • Support low-cost models to support the feasibility of infraco’s
  • Ensure alignment with industry best practises and learnings across the Group

4. Reporting

  • Draft high-quality proposals for Vodacom and all other stakeholders to motivate new infrastructure projects
  • Support Governance teams to source all required internal approvals
  • Develop an internal reporting system to report back on all commercial project progress and all post implementation tracking of delivery

5. Resourcing / Org Design

  • Review and support the commercial Operating model for each InfraCo.
  • Develop an optimal commercial structure and resourcing plan structure for the SPV’s in consultation with Group HR.
  • Design and deliver an end-to-end operational execution plan for each infraco
  • Develop new capabilities across the InfraCo’s (common solutions)

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Must have technical/professional qualifications: 

  • An engineering telecommunications degree or  similar is essential. 
  • An MBA will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in mobile and fixed telecommunications; specialising in network operations, “end-to-end” network planning,  engineering & design,
  • Minimum 5 years management and leadership experience in the telecommunications sector
  • Technology strategy and transactional experience 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Strong technical, strategic and managerial experience
  • Strong understanding of “end-to-end” network architecture and design in the mobile and fixed environment

Role purpose/Business Unit

This role is responsible for delivering, maintaining, and optimizing infrastructure, database, and middleware capabilities to support and enable the development and operations of applications and solutions. This role is also responsible for reviewing solution designs; understanding their impact on applications & infrastructure; building and implementing infrastructure and applications, and monitoring, maintaining & supporting the operational environments.  In addition, the candidate in this role is responsible for leading and managing VFS IT Lending Service Management relating to incident and problem management, change management, continuous service improvement, monitoring and alerting, SLA and OLA management

Your responsibilities will include:

Change, Incident and Problem Management 

  • Leading and facilitating effective incident management activities across infrastructure and application teams to ensure efficient resolution of VFS IT Lending outages and service disruptions.
  • Maintain metrics and Service Management reporting that provide visibility to stakeholders of Incident and Problem Management for VFS IT Lending
  • Coordinating Problem Management and Root Cause Analysis activities to prevent and mitigate future incidents, driving the implementation and resolution of permanent solutions within the applications/servers/services

Cybersecurity

  • Manage and remediate security threats and vulnerabilities, and applying all required security controls in accordance with policy
  • Ensure penetration testing findings across VFS IT Lending services are remediated within defined timeframes

DevOps Engineering

  • Creation of software deployment strategies to enable successful software deployments 
  • Design, build and optimize the automation of all manual tasks for developing and deploying code 
  • Implementation and maintenance of continuous deployment and continuous integration frameworks
  • Design and develop scaling strategies, automation scripts and solutions to implement, streamline and operate software applications 
     

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field preferred
  • Eight or more years’ experience in coordinating and delivering major projects and programs
  • Extensive experience in managing dependencies effectively across multiple delivery teams, meeting deadlines and business outcome objectives
  • Experience managing multiple vendors, and managing delivery with the vendors
  • Experience with project management tools e.g. JIRA, MS Project
  • Professional experience and knowledge of digital and Telecommunications industries strongly preferred

We are seeking a Senior Data Architect – a technical “unicorn” with broad expertise across Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, and Cloud Architecture – to join our Big Data & AI team. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Holistic Architecture Design:

  • Define end-to-end architectures for data ingestion, processing, governance, and analytics in a cloud or hybrid environment.
  • Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, ML engineers, and DevOps teams to craft integrated solutions that meet both technical and business requirements.

2. Data Architecture & Governance:

  • Design robust data models, data pipelines, and feature stores that ensure data quality, lineage, and security.

  • Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud – including container orchestration and DevOps pipelines.
  • Proven track record in data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data governance for large-scale data platforms.

Senior Specialist: Lease Accounting

Finance : Real Estate

Role Purpose/Business Unit:

  • To manage the Finance function surrounding the lease portfolios which entails base stations and office leases. Engaging with the regional estate management teams and key stakeholders on a daily basis, accountable for compliance and reporting of the transactional processing in a timely, IFRS compliant and accurate manner.
  • The role will manage and monitor entries posted to the relevant ledgers, month end closure and related reporting for Financial Year End.
  • The ideal candidate will also possess excellent analytical and operational capabilities as well as strong financial technical skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Lease accounting

  • Monthly analysis of operational accounts to identify trends and anomalies
  • Journal recommendations based on above analysis to ensure complete and accurate accounting
  • Analysis and reporting of contracts and the Real Estate System
  • End to end oversight of process from lease capture to lease payment.

Reporting

  • Analyses of reported data for key trends and anomalies, exception reporting to be investigated and resolution of exceptions reported to management
  • Lease costs at a site level
  • Ensure that material risks and opportunities are identified and reported in a timely and accurate manner.

2. Month-End Closing (MEC)
Daily, weekly and monthly activities are performed by a shared services center.
The MEC responsibility will include:

  • Ensuring lease accounting is accurate and complete through review of monthly analysis
  • Ensuring depreciation and interest is complete and accurate
  • Ensuring additional journals and adjustments are posted to ensure accurate and complete records for example:
    • Reallocation journals
    • Intercompany journals
  • Providing supporting information to tax and provide support where required
  • Preparation or review of SOX controls
  • Reporting to Finance Business partners on general ledger accounts
  • Perform and assist with adhoc projects as required

3. Internal Control Environment

  • Support the implementation of a strong control environment, ensuring compliance to all relevant group policies.
  • Support the implementation of an appropriate SOX controls, internal controls and compliance requirements surrounding the month end close and reporting process.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Minimum of 4+ years’ relevant experience
  • Technology and Telco experience would be an advantage
  • Chartered Accountant
