Brief Role Description

Based in Sandton within VW Brand department, the successful incumbent will be responsible to develop, promote and maintain a premium marketing strategy to further step up the Premium positioning of the Ducati Brand in the market. The Marketing and PR Manager leads the overall Marketing, Communication, PR activities and strategy for Ducati South Africa on a national basis and in collaboration with the growing Dealer Network.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Brief Role Description

To plan, design, develop and introduce the provision, modification and maintenance of material handling facilities, transport, packaging, processes and systems for the optimal material flow from source to point of use to support Production, P&A and Localizations and Export projects in achieving their scheduled targets. To analyze, maintain and control the various Logistics Planning Contracts by liaison with the necessary VWSA departments and external contractors in order to reduce costs and improve methods of control on an ongoing basis.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Planning and preparing detailed logistics material flow concepts in production and warehouse environments for optimum solutions.
  • Preparing detailed layouts, drawings and job specifications for specialized facilities
  • Conceiving, designing and procuring logistics facilities, i.e. stillages, pallets, dunnage, trolleys, racking, general storage facilities and packaging based on analysis and interpretation of requirements for new projects, production requests
  • Defining detailed project plans for coordinating and monitoring
  • Preparing Enquiry Requests to obtain quotations from suppliers
  • Evaluating adjudicated quotations then negotiating with suppliers
  • Preparing appropriation requests to justify capital expenditure
  • Preparing and issuing purchase requisitions. 
  • Arranging for project/facility/service acceptance and hand-over by conducting demonstrations of equipment or facilities (e.g. through physical trials).
  • Preparation of budget prices to be used for corporate investment programs, cost studies, localization and export projects.

Degree or National Diploma in fields of either Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics or Purchasing

3 years’ experience with logistics processes within manufacturing environment.

  • .Have 3 – 5 years industry related experience (preferably at an automation integrater)

Essentials

  • Ability to analyze and correct any deviation of machine performance from the manufactures specification.
  • Have extensive experience in a PLC controlled systems environment including Profibus, Profinet, Profisafe and Interbus diagnostics, Industrial Ethernet diagnostic and SCADA programming and diagnostics.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Knowledge and ability to read electrical drawings – hardware and software.
  • Robotic experience is essential.
  • High proficiency with test equipment for fault finding.

  • Assisting supporting departments in pre-series build

  •  3 – 5 years’ experience on Jigs and Fixtures, Or 3 – 5 years measuring experience in Jigs and Fixtures

  • Be familiar with detailed technical drawings and fixture drawings

  • Experience in Sales, Service and Marketing is required.
  • Dealer after-sales operations experience and at least 3 years of specialist or supervisory automotive experience, preferably in after-sales, marketing, or sales, is advantageous.

Essentials:

  • The candidate must be familiar with dealer after-sales operations, including service and parts, and have a strong understanding of business management principles and their application.
  • The candidate should have a proven understanding of the automotive parts and accessories business, including pricing and its impact, as well as marketing concepts and their applications.
  • The candidate should have experience in developing and implementing after-sales campaigns and promotions
  • Exposure and experience in accident damage management, motor body repairers and insurance will be a distinct advantage
  • A strong understanding of customer loyalty and experience is required.
  • The candidate should have experience in Strategy Development and Implementation
  • Key skills required – critical thinking, project management, communication (written and verbal), presenting, influencing, negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making, coordination, innovation, leadership and analytical thinking skills

  • Collecting information and feedback from marketing on cross- divisional teams, forums and other channels prior to finalizing product plans.

  • Planning and implementation of feasibility studies for potential models to be imported into South Africa, including vehicles clinics.
  • Planning and implementation all VW passenger FBU models utilizing the Group MBV system.
  • Maintaining the Group MBV system to ensure all vehicle specifications are accurate.
  • Maintaining and distributing vehicle specification information to the organization in illustrating key differences and similarities to competitor offerings.
  • Co-ordinating & facilitation of the launch management process to ensure all areas of the NSO organization and related systems, including compliance topics are updated for relevant models
     

Qualification requirements

A formal 3-year Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, preferably in Commerce/ Business Science/ Engineering.

Experience needed

Minimum of 3 years product planning experience (Previous product planning experience in automotive industry will be ideal).

3 years ‘experience in sales forecasting/ market research/brand management/ engineering in the automotive industry.
