Former Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp is in South Africa and was recently spotted in Cape Town. In one of the now-viral videos, the football gaffer signed autographs in a local sportswear store.
FORMER LIVERPOOL COACH JURGEN KLOPP SPOTTED IN CAPE TOWN
The video has gained thousands of comments and reactions since being posted online. However, little is known about when Jurgen Klopp jetted into the country and the reasons for his visit.
The German tactician has a soft spot for South Africa, and this is arguably his third visit to the country.
In 2019, Jurgen Klopp visited Cape Town for a vacation. During his stay, he had the opportunity to share priceless moments with Springboks captain Siya Kolisi and Faf du Plessis.
He was also spotted at Dias Tarven and attended the theatre production Kinky Boots at the Fugard Theatre.
In 2017, the German visited Mother City as an ambassador for a local soccer charity for children, Joy is Round and donated over R180 000 to the Hout Bay United Football Community initiative.
However, against the gesture, Hout Bay United FC revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s trip was purely a private holiday and was not linked to any official event at the club.
RELATIONSHIP WITH SIYA KOLISI
Thanks to his visits, Klopp has since made friends in South Africa. Last year, he made headlines when he revealed how he met Siya Kolisi. He also talked about his bromance with Siya Kolisi over the years.
The former Liverpool tactician revealed that he bumped into Siya Kolisi while having a good meal with his friends at a Cape Town restaurant.
During an interview, the former Liverpool coach said, “We had been at a restaurant in Cape Town, Camps Bay. I was there with friends and as a German guy, we are not so much into rugby.
“My friend who is half French and half English, he came back from the restroom, and he said, ‘My God, Siya Kolisi is here’. I walked there just to have a look.”
‘NOW SUPPORTING THE SPRINGBOKS’
However, he revealed that he used to support the All-Blacks, but his bromance with Siya Kolisi changed everything. Now, Jurgen Klopp supports the Springboks.
In 2022, Siya Kolisi revealed to the media that he now considers Jürgen Klopp a close friend after meeting him in Cape Town.
