The heavy rain that has devastated parts of Gauteng is expected to begin subsiding this weekend, according to the South African Weather Service.

Starting Friday, rainfall will gradually decrease across many areas of the country. The weather service has predicted a 50% chance of rain in Gauteng, particularly on Sunday, but the likelihood of further flooding is low.

This week, heavy downpours have caused flooding in parts of the country which includes Gauteng, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Mpumalanga. Although no major incidents have been reported, several roads, especially in the Centurion area, were temporarily closed.

For the upcoming weekend, less rain is forecasted in Gauteng. On Friday, Pretoria will experience warm, humid conditions with some sunshine. Rain is predicted for Johannesburg on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures expected to reach around 23°C.

By Friday, the rain is expected to lessen as temperatures in Gauteng improve. Clean-up operations are currently underway while the weather begins to clear.
