Role Overview
As the Special Assistant to the Director of the WFP New York Global Office, the successful candidate will be entrusted with a variety of responsibilities that require a high level of organization, analytical skills, and discretion. The role will involve providing timely and coherent support, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring that the Director has all necessary resources to lead effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Timely and Analytical Support:
The Special Assistant will provide accurate information and insightful analysis regarding issues related to the UN system and multilateral engagement. This will include ensuring the Director is updated on relevant developments that may affect WFP’s work. - Coordination of Inputs:
The position will involve overseeing the coordination and consolidation of inputs from Partnerships Officers for the preparation of official documents, including briefings, remarks, position papers, and official correspondence. This requires strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Engaging with UN system counterparts and other multilateral organizations will be a critical component of the role. The Special Assistant will ensure appropriate representation and participation of the WFP in strategic discussions and events. - Administrative Management:
The Special Assistant will manage the administrative functions of the Director’s office, including scheduling meetings, organizing events, coordinating travel arrangements, and ensuring security clearance where necessary. - Support for Executive Missions:
Acting as the focal point for all Executive missions to UN headquarters, the Special Assistant will coordinate logistics and ensure that all relevant details are meticulously managed. - Internal Coordination:

Qualifications and Experience Required
Education
- A university degree in Political Science, International Development, International Relations, or related fields is required. An advanced university degree is preferred.
Eligibility
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States.
Experience
- Relevant experience with WFP, the UN system, or diplomatic missions is highly desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
