Kaizer Chiefs’ Mfundo Vilakazi once had a memorable meet-up with Orlando Pirates’ former superstar Sifiso Myeni.

WHAT SIFISO MYENI TOLD MFUNDO VILAKAZI

Speaking to FARPost, Myeni revealed that he met Vilakazi before the youngster’s breakthrough in the Kaizer Chiefs senior team. “I met [Mfundo] Vilakazi a long time ago when he was still a young boy at the Discovery tournament in Soweto,” Myeni said. “I may not be exact about the year, but I think he was 12 to 15 years old during that time.

“During a match, there’s one pass that he handled before releasing it. It was quality. After the match, I spoke to him, and I said, ‘You have a lot of talent, you’re skilful, keep on working hard. One day you’re going to be a professional player playing in the league’.

“When I saw the news that he’s been promoted to Chiefs senior team, it wasn’t a surprise to me. I’ve always known that the boy has quality, and it was just a matter of time before his opportunity came.

“I think he has improved a lot, and he’s still going to improve. He’s young. He still has many more seasons to play. My hope for him is that he stays fit and grounded. Now and then, we chat on the phone sometimes,” concluded Myeni.

KAIZER CHIEFS JUNIOR STAR TO SIGN FOR POLOKWANE CITY?

Not every Naturena youth product can make the Kaizer Chiefs senior team.

According to Soccer Laduma, the exciting 23-year-old midfield maestro Kgaogelo Ramushu has left Amakhosi. His current location is the Polokwane City training base. “Look, I don’t really know what happened between Kgaogelo Ramushu and Kaizer Chiefs, but what I can tell you is that he is no longer with the club,” a source told the outlet. “What I do also know is that he is training with Polokwane City. He has been there for over a week now.

“Kgaogelo is such a talented player with a bright future in football. He was the Chiefs’ DDC team captain. At some stage, he played with some of the talented young players you see doing well in the first team of Chiefs, and he has always been doing well. The boy is quality, and he can play in different positions, whether as a left-back, left winger, or as a number six,” concluded the source.
