As a core member of the Environment Program, the Program Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing the foundation’s 2024-2029 Climate Strategy. The Program Officer will report to the Environment Program Director and supervise a Program Associate, fostering professional development and collaboration within the team. Building and maintaining strong relationships with grantee partners, peer funders, and movement leaders is essential, as the role requires ongoing dialogue, technical support, and organizational strengthening efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 15 years of relevant professional experience, ideally with a background in grantmaking, climate finance, or international climate policy. A demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage staff and budgets, and foster coalitions for collective action is essential. The Program Officer should be an empathetic relationship-builder, open-minded, and capable of working across cultures and sectors. Strong communication skills—both oral and written—are necessary for articulating complex themes to diverse audiences, including government officials, advocacy groups, and philanthropic partners.

Integrity, sound judgment, flexibility, humility, and a high-energy approach underpin the qualities sought in candidates. Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time is required.
