Woman gives birth at Wanderers during Proteas Pink Day ODI

While the Proteas’ Pink Day ODI at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday was one to forget on the field, it was certainly a memorable one OFF the pitch.

The Proteas lost the match by 36 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS method), handing Pakistan a 3-0 series sweep.

Off the field, Christmas came early for a couple who welcomed their newborn baby boy at the stadium’s medical centre. 

“Congratulations Mr and Mrs Rabeng on the birth of your healthy son at the Bull Ring,” read a message on the big screen at the ground.

Meanwhile, in other life-changing news, a spectator took advantage of the Pink Day event to romantically to propose to his partner.

The Proteas and Pakistan will now play two Tests, the first of which starts on Boxing Day, Thursday, 26 December at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

The first ball is due to be bowled at 10:00.

The second Test will take place at Newlands in Cape Town from 3-7 January 2025.
