JOB SUMMARY
MedGlobal is on the lookout for a passionate and innovative Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic Communications team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the organization’s brand presence through compelling content creation, strategic social media management, and powerful storytelling. The ideal candidate will harness their creativity and skills to engage audiences effectively, showcasing the impactful work of MedGlobal and advocating for humanitarian efforts on a global scale.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Content Creation:
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for developing, writing, and designing high-quality content that accurately reflects the voice and mission of MedGlobal. This includes crafting stories that resonate across various platforms, ensuring that all content adheres to MedGlobal’s brand guidelines and overall communication strategy. The goal is to create engaging materials that not only inform but also inspire action and empathy.
2. Social Media Management:
The successful candidate will manage and enhance MedGlobal’s presence on all major social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. They will develop and execute social media campaigns aimed at increasing engagement, followers, and overall awareness of MedGlobal’s humanitarian efforts. By closely monitoring trends, performance metrics, and audience insights, the Coordinator will be tasked with refining content strategies to maximize impact.
3. Video/Graphic Editing:
The role requires the production, editing, and delivery of high-quality videos and graphics that effectively convey MedGlobal’s mission and impact. Collaborating with field teams, the Communications Coordinator will capture on-the-ground footage, conduct interviews, and create engaging multimedia content while ensuring all materials meet professional standards and are optimized for various platforms, including social media, websites, and presentations.
4. Story Capture:
An essential part of this role involves working closely with MedGlobal’s field teams to identify and share compelling stories from the individuals and communities served. This includes interviewing beneficiaries, volunteers, and medical staff to create human-centered narratives that resonate with donors, partners, and the wider public. The Coordinator will develop visual and written content that amplifies these stories, showcasing the transformative impact of MedGlobal’s work.
5. Collaborative Engagement:
The Communications Coordinator will collaborate with the Communications, Fundraising, and Program teams to design and implement effective strategies that engage both new and existing audiences. This includes assisting in the creation of communication materials such as brochures, reports, and presentations that clearly communicate MedGlobal’s initiatives and successes. By contributing innovative ideas, the Coordinator will help enhance MedGlobal’s engagement with key stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and partners.
6. Supervising Communications Team:
In addition to their responsibilities, the Communications Coordinator will supervise the communications team, providing guidance and constructive feedback. This oversight will ensure that all content produced is of the highest quality and aligns with MedGlobal’s brand guidelines.
7. Website Editing and Management:
The Coordinator will also be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of MedGlobal’s website, ensuring that content is consistently updated, engaging, and in alignment with the organization’s mission and values. This task will involve editing and publishing blog posts, news updates, and web pages to accurately reflect MedGlobal’s ongoing humanitarian efforts. Additionally, optimizing web content for search engines (SEO) is necessary to increase visibility and user engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
To thrive in this role, candidates should possess:
- A strong commitment to MedGlobal’s mission and values, along with a genuine passion for humanitarian work.
- At least 3 years of experience in communications, encompassing both social and traditional media.
- Proficiency in content creation, social media management, and multimedia editing.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a meticulous eye for detail.
- A solid understanding of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and graphic design tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma).
- Experience managing websites using WordPress.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure, particularly when collaborating across cultures and time zones.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience in humanitarian relief or a related field is a plus.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages such as Arabic, Spanish, or other regional languages is advantageous.
