Role Purpose
The Communication Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the Communications and Influencing department by contributing to the creation and dissemination of communication content tailored for both offline and online platforms. This position will focus on amplifying the visibility of our humanitarian and developmental projects through innovative content that engages a broad audience.
Key Relationships
The communication intern will report directly to the Advocacy & Influencing Communications Manager, ensuring close collaboration on various projects and initiatives. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals dedicated to making impactful changes in the lives of children.
Accountabilities
- Content Development: Assist in the design and production of various communication materials, which include editing videos, creating leaflets, and crafting social media posts, ensuring they align with Plan International’s objectives and values.
- Visibility Engagement: Actively participate in increasing Plan’s visibility by developing and editing interactive content and graphics in both Arabic and English. The goal is to generate significant traffic on Plan’s digital platforms and to encourage broader community engagement.
- Content Editorial Calendar: Implement and maintain a publishing schedule by developing a comprehensive content editorial calendar. This will aid in managing content strategically and planning specific marketing campaigns that are timely and relevant.
- Project Documentation: Establish and manage a picture database of ongoing project activities. This includes collecting photos and documenting activities in adherence with Lebanon’s guidelines, facilitating easy access and archiving for future use.
- Field Documentation: Capture high-quality photographs during field visits, trainings, and other activities to document the impact and progress of our initiatives visually.
Technical Expertise, Skills, and Knowledge
The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of sensitive topics and social trends related to Child Protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Education. Familiarity with humanitarian principles and processes will also be crucial for success in this role.
Qualifications and Experience
- An undergraduate degree or current enrollment in a relevant field, such as mass communication, graphic design, or marketing.
- A demonstrable understanding of online platforms and social media outlets, with knowledge of online campaigns and marketing strategies.
- Proficiency in graphic design and video production software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, is essential.
Skills
- Languages: An excellent command of English and Arabic, both spoken and written, is required. Proficiency in French is considered an asset.
- Technical Proficiency: Confident use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, as well as online editing tools like Photoshop and Canva.
- Flexibility: Openness to flexible working hours and varying locations, adapting to the needs of the projects.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are fundamental, as the intern will work closely with team members and external stakeholders.
- Photography Skills: Ability to take quality photographs relevant to project documentation is a plus.
- Creativity: A wealth of creative ideas and enthusiasm for contributing meaningfully to a large-scale humanitarian effort.
